My Leadership Moments: Aurelia Costache, EY Partner

News by #FutureLeadersForum in My Leadership Moments

My Leadership Moments is a discussion series of the ICMCI Future Leaders Forum (FLF) moderated by FLF members in which renowned consulting leaders share highlights of their professional journeys to help younger colleagues shape their future.

In the new instalment of My Leadership Moments on 14 March 2022, Aurelia Costache, EY Partner, recounted special lessons learned throughout her career in a conversation moderated by Adelwyn Holder CMC.

The first lesson for Aurelia Costache came at the very beginning when she applied for her first job. While still at university, she wanted to work part-time and the way the process went at the time of no emails and no phones convinced her that we need to take action and not wait for things to happen.

At a later stage, she was offered the opportunity to delve into a topic which was completely new at the time, IT audit. She applied herself to the study and practice in this area and eventually became the first certified auditor in Romania. In the long run, it proved to be the start of a new successful line in the organization and another lesson: never stop trying new things because this is how you evolve.

Aurelia Costache also brought to the fore:
•    Like what you do and continue to develop.
•    It is important for leaders to have trust in their younger colleagues.
•    Never hesitate to ask for help.
•    Personal development never stops, no matter how experienced a consultant is. Training is also capable of fostering a community among colleagues.
•    Testing times, such as the pandemic, prove how important it is to support each other and to show empathy.
